Innovations

"Innovation is the process of utilizing simple tools to create better experiences" Mohamed Al Banhawi. Innovations Director, Savola Foods

For years the word innovations in the Middle East has been linked to high tech and scientific inventions associated with the western world. The development of the markets and the consumers in the region made innovations a general term whose application and adoption across all disciplines is an inevitable process.

The first of its kind in the region, Savola Foods Innovation Unit has the role of establishing the culture of innovations and deploying it across all disciplines. Working on both internal and external fronts, innovation is no longer a high tech related process that is all about new inventions. It is our role to correct such myths and spread a culture where everyone and anyone can apply in his life and work.

Internally we are working on utilizing simple and available methods to create more value, updating systems and policies and based on the availabilities and requirement of the business without really inventing high tech products an example of this is utilizing tricycles to reach very small shops in narrow streets and slums where vans cannot be the correct means of delivering products. Externally we utilize also simple products that can create a great value to our customers; one of these is using a sealing sticker on sugar packs to ensure the safety of the sugar after opening the pack. This is always coupled with utilizing technology and R&D techniques and networking with biggest players in flavors, packaging, designs like Givaudan, Dragon Rouge, Strategos and having the sole objective of constantly giving our customers and consumers a better experience.

In order to stay connected with the whole company and all the business units, a monthly newsletter is issued and sent to all business units to show what we have in the pipelines and potential innovations we are working on.
